Introduction of Common Chemical Additives Classification

2024-05-09

Chemical additives are an auxiliary material used in chemical production, which can improve some characteristics in the chemical production process, improve product quality and yield, and can be divided into five categories according to the function and role of chemical additives: synthetic additives, crosslinking additives, functional additives, stability additives, process additives.

1. Additives for synthesis
Including phenolic resin, polyurethane, urea-formaldehyde resin, melamine formaldehyde resin, furfural resin, unsaturated polyester resin, chloroprene rubber, nitrile rubber, grafted neoprene, SBS, SIS, SEBS, α-cyanoacrylate, anaerobic adhesive, modified acrylate fast curing adhesive, acrylate pressure sensitive adhesive, etc. These additives play an important role in the synthesis process, such as catalyst, initiator, emulsifier, dispersant, inhibitor, terminator, etc., which can effectively promote the chemical reaction and improve the quality and performance of the product. In addition, the addition of additives can also adjust the molecular weight of the polymer and improve the physical and mechanical properties of the polymer.

2. Crosslinking additives
The crosslinking auxiliary means an auxiliary substance capable of promoting a crosslinking reaction of a material. In the fields of rubber, plastics, coatings, etc., crosslinking reaction is a very important process, which can make the material more strong, durable, stable, and improve its physical and mechanical properties. Common crosslinking aids include vulcanizing agents, crosslinking agents, accelerators, etc.

The vulcanizing agent is an auxiliary agent to promote the vulcanization reaction of rubber, which can make the rubber molecular chain cross-linking reaction and improve the elasticity and high temperature resistance of rubber. Crosslinking agents are mainly used in the plastics industry to enhance the physical and mechanical properties of plastics by introducing crosslinking groups. Accelerators are commonly used additives in the rubber industry, which can increase the vulcanization speed of rubber and reduce the vulcanization temperature.

3. Functional additives
Functional additives, also known as modified additives, can improve the original performance of the material, and can give new performance. Specifically, it includes toughening agents, tackifiers, reinforcing agents, plasticizers, flame retardants, coupling agents, fillers, accelerators, softeners, conductive agents, foaming agents, colorants, color eliminators, antistatic agents, chelating agents, deodorants, defoamers, wetting agents, leveling agents, anti-settling agents, catalysts, and the like.
